Description
This is a large gimbal Compass by the well known Silva Company from Sweden. This one is from around the 1980’s, based on the materials used. The gimbal hanging mechanism and the compass back are iron, the bod is wood. The top ring and glass are made of plastic. There is a small mark in the crystal that says “MN 73” so perhaps it was produced in 1973? It Stood the test of time in it’s complette box with Silva Logo. Ready to use or for display. For the idea of the size: the box is 13cm/ 5 inches and the compass diameter of the white part is 5,5cm / 2 inches. Great talking piece or to take out on your vintage style boat / camper trip!
