Description

A high quality antique tool for measuring an area on a map, a so called Planimeter. Made buy the workshop of the inventor of this type. J. Amsler (also signed on the planimeter leg). Here is the catalog (page 12-15) and manual from 1930 with all the details. This Swiss made standard size type 6 planimeter is considered one of the best of it’s day. This one has number 58079 (also signed again with 079 on the other leg, indicating it is the same product. It was sold in Hamburg by a technical measuring instrument reseller called H. Mathak just before 1920. It comes in the complete and all original box with the separate weight. All functions seem to be working very smooth. There are signs of normal use and some signs of age.
