Description

This is the model Norma E10 stove by Gustav Barthel as shown below in their 1934 catalog. This is the smallest from the E-series and according to the specs only holds 0,2 liter of burning fluid in the 0,25 liter tank. But this one is made in a small batch, specially for a Dutch Company. Instead of the NORMA E110 embossment this one has the Dutch company name and logo embossed on a small brass patch. Also it is not in the standard black fire proof paint as advertised. Barthel had a special option for the larger stoves to have them enameled in braun or white. For this small batch it seems an exception was made and these come in white enamel, which was not only a more price option but also ensures the longevity of the stove. It was probably used as a merchandise piece before the second world war or just after the war to hide the fact that it was actually a German product. Germans and German products were not very popular in The Netherlands after the occupation. There is no mention of the Gustav Barthel or Norma name or GB logo, nor that it was made in Germany. It has been thoroughly polished and the black knob on front has received a repaint, still the white enamel is in great condition, only small pieces missing from stove top and feet bottom (97% complete). Overall it is in very good condition, all parts are moving okay, some polish marks on the brash and some several small dent in the tank. Tank lid is fine. Not tested, sold as a display piece since I am sure only very few of these are left. Measures 29,5 cm or 11 inches from knob to tank.
