Out of stock
This is an early wooden Faber Castell slide rule for the craftsman of it’s days, working heavy machinery. So made to the needs of a special group of workers using a system invented by Dr. Winkel. This model is 1/48 “Maschinenzeit” which is German for machine time. Made in Germany in the late 1950’s (estimated on the materials used). It has many different calculations and a whole different layout, many words and symbols compared to a mathematical slide rule. The instructions on the back are in German. The plastic curser has a small kW marked hairline and a long Ps marked hairline. Everything is in very good and complete condition with some signs of age only, little use marks. The large part of the container is correctly signed with 1/48 “maschinenzeit” system Dr. Winkel 1/48 as is the slide rule itself, but the top of the container is marked differently (1/54) so must have been switched at some point. It measures ca. 30 cm or ca. 12 inches. Check the attached video on how to work your vintage man tool : slide rule operation instructions!
