This is combo of 2 hiking / outdoor tools. Both made in Germany ca. 1980 by the Freienberger Präzisionsmechanik (a company combination formed by VEB and Carl Zeiss Jena) from the DDR / GDR before the wall came down in 1989. This small tool is very handy when studying a (road) map. Rolling over the small wheel, handling this instrument like a pen, will make the hand move in the round part. When you start the hand on top and select the correct scale / ratio you can read the exact amount of kilometers in real life. The other is an inclination measure. By looking through it and amazing at a fixed point you are able to determine the angle / steepness of one point to the other. Both items are in good and very usable condition with only small signs of use. The dial of the wheel are a little sun burned and turend yellow. This does not affect the use. The inclination measure also comes with paperwork.
