Description

This handwind toy train is made by Louis Marx in the 1940’s. It was made for the gauge 0 size and modeled after the Mercury streamline train that rain from New York. You can read more about this amazing train here. Because of the popularity of the real train, this Louis Marx toy train Mercury New York Central model was produced. It is a complete set comprised of a loco with working handwind motor (no key), a cole tender marked New Your Central, the middle wagon marked New York Central -Chicago- and an end wagon marked New York Central – Detroit – with the Mercery name on the back. All wagons can be detached using the clever and simple pull pin system. The train also has a switch on top. The entire train is complete and original with marks of use and age as you can see in the pictures. There is a little color difference but this was standard for that era. This is a great display piece, measuring 70 cm / 27 1/2 inch in total. It can also be run on a standard gauge 0 track (not included).
