From the well know construction set creator Meccano comes this very interesting box. This is the cheapest real box ever produced. Â In the crisis in the 1930’s Meccano decided to make an even smaller box (besides 0 and 00) which they called 000 (triple 0). It was quite hard to come up with a box with a few meccano metal pieces that was still able to produced a lot of different possible item to build. So they enclosed several pieces made of cardboard. After realizing they might give their competitors the wrong idea…they quick stoped producing this set. Even more rare is the fact that this is almost complete and specially made for the Dutch market. So box and all paperwork are in Dutch! The metal pieces itself show clearly aging (some rust) but all is original and the box and paperwork are in great shape. The box measures only 27 cm or 11 inches wide. There is a very detailed description of this set on the page of the Brighton Toy Museum.
