Zurex Pola Spot automatic winding watch with Pola Filter technology, made in 1989 in Switzerland

This is a very interesting watch. It holds technical unique watch making history. The brand is Zurex (related to Diarex) and the technique under the dial is the patented “Pola Spot” in combination with a floating secondhand (small white arrow). The Pola filter makes the dial switch between black and clear in 5 seconds and does this 4 times per minute. So the dial is only clear 2x 10 seconds per minute. I am not sure how they did it but it has a nice “reveal” to it. This hidden dial technology was used here to show the commemorative logo for the European Union Contest for Young Scientists. The competition started in 1989 after the then European Commission President Jacques Delors took over the Europe-wide science fair that Royal Philips from the Netherlands had been running since 1968. This exact watch has also been produced with erotic pictures, text and photographs of world leaders.
This watch is a mechanical watch with 21 jewel automatic winding, made in Switzerland (even the original rubber strap is made in Switzerland). It is New Old Stock (NOS) and comes in the original box (inners were deteriorated so I put in a grey piece of paper for protection. The case measures a good 38mm wide without the original crown. The flexible rubber strap is 20 wide at the case. It is tested, running and winding well and keeps time. Hands are set over the crown. It has minimal signs use and age. Vintage watch guarantee and ideas on use:
All vintage watches I sell are tested and working correct. When they needed service or adjustment this has been done by a professional watchmaker. I do not keep paperwork on every separate watch. I cannot give a long guarantee on vintage watches since it depends on how careful they are handled. Sometimes rough shipment can hurt them, no matter how well I package them. I will always take them back when there are problems upon receiving or in the first weeks of use. Please treat your vintage watch as a precious old timer car. Do not go out in the rain, play sports with them or take them on long holidays. Do buy a good watch box to keep them in and change your strap in time. Wear them for a few days at a time and change them out. Do not set the date when the hands are within a few hours before or after 12 o’ clock. Never use force, sent me an email if you are not sure on how to work your vintage watch.
